Want to change from chocolate cakes? Looking for a recipe that has a strong orange taste? Then this is your cake! Pity that you cannot smell from your computer :)
It is true that it does not have the glory of a chocolate cake but if you accept this, and dare to try, you will be addicted!
(Photos and precious help provided generously from my son :*)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 ½ cups self-raising flour
  • 2/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Zest of 1–2 oranges

Procedure

1. Preheat & Prepare Pan
Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan). Grease your cake mold(s) with butter.

2. Cream Margarine & Sugar
Soften the margarine in the microwave, then whisk it with the sugar until creamy.

3. Add Eggs & Zest
Add the eggs and orange zest. Mix using a hand or electric mixer for a few minutes until smooth and fluffy.

4. Combine Flour & Orange Juice
Gradually add the self-raising flour and orange juice, mixing until the batter is smooth and well combined.

5. Pour into Mold
Transfer the batter into the prepared cake mold, spreading evenly.

6. Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes (time may vary depending on mold shape). Check doneness by inserting a knife—it should come out clean.

7. Cool & Serve
Let the cake cool for 10–15 minutes before removing from the mold. Slice and serve plain, or dust with powdered sugar for extra presentation.
