Spaghetti with Shrimps (Greek Garidomakaronada)

A classic summer dish, garidomakaronada is a light yet flavorful pasta meal, perfect for enjoying by the sea. Quick, easy, and bursting with Mediterranean flavors!

Ingredients

  • 300g shrimps, cleaned
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • 3-4 ripe tomatoes (or canned), pureed
  • 500g spaghetti
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Olive oil & parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti in salted water, drain, toss with olive oil, and set aside.
  2. In a low casserole, heat olive oil and sauté the onion and green pepper for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the shrimps and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour in the pureed tomatoes, season with salt, pepper, and parsley, and add 1/2 cup of water.
  5. Cover and simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Serve the spaghetti topped with the shrimp sauce. Enjoy!

Serving Tips & Variations

  • Garnish with fresh basil or a pinch of chili flakes for extra flavor.
  • For a richer taste, deglaze with a splash of ouzo or white wine before adding the tomatoes.
