[Updated 18/03/2025]

These juicy Greek-style burgers, or biftekia, are packed with Mediterranean flavors. Perfect for a homemade meal, they can be grilled, pan-fried, or baked for an easy and delicious dish.

Ingredients

  • 700g ground beef (or beef & pork mix)
  • 1 onion, finely grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs, or an equal amount of bread soaked in water or milk and well squeezed to remove excess moisture
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1 tbsp chopped mint
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp mustard (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix all ingredients until well combined. Let the mixture rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  2. Shape into burger patties, wetting your hands occasionally to prevent sticking.
  3. Cook on a grill, pan, or in the oven at 200°C (fan) for 20 minutes, flipping halfway. Adjust time depending on thickness.
  4. Serve with salad, pita, or fries.

Serving Tips & Variations

Pair with tzatziki, grilled vegetables and lemony potato salad or a fresh green salad.
