Roast Beef with potatoes in the oven
Classic Sunday cooking: some good piece of meat and potatoes in the oven. Easy, classy and pleases the majority of people. Here's the french way of cooking it.
Ingredients
800-1000gr of beef (I am using "rumsteak" in France but better ask your butcher for the best at your place)
4 toes of garlic (smashed with a big knife like in photos)
salt, pepper (of excellent quality)
thyme
olive oil
butter
4 big potatoes (peeled, washed and cut in halves)
Procedure
- Add salt all around the meat.
- Using a frying pan with some olive oil, fry all sides of the meat.
- Move the meat in a deep oven dish, add the potatoes and sprinkle all over olive oil, salt and pepper and thyme.
- Add slices of the butter on top of the meat, the garlic around it and some water.
- Bake in the oven with air and grill at 220 degrees of Celsius for about 20min.
- Watch out for the meat not to get dry and take it out and leave the potatoes for 10 minutes more at least or until get a nice color.
Serve the meat in this slices with a nice greek salad full of feta cheese, olive oil and oregano and you have the ultimate menu for your family or friends!
